In between cats and traps for Operation Southern Watch, the commanding officer of Attack Squadron 75 describes the final deployment of the Intruder. For a community that is winding down, life is anything but quiet.
Operating in the Persian Gulf is completely different from our previous Adriatic Sea flights in support of Operation Decisive Endeavor,” Commander Jim Gigliotly, VA-75’s commanding officer, reported. “In the Adriatic, we had more of a presence mission with lots of variables, such as heavy civilian airliner traffic all through the area, tasking with other NATO aircraft, violators of the no-fly zone, and the basic fact that we were on a real heavy-duty peacekeeping mission. We were not there on a strictly offensive mission, but rather to backup and enforce the NATO peacekeeping effort.”
