LCDR Karen Kutkiewicz, USCG, is a 2006 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and earned an M.A. in Communication from San Diego State University. She is a permanent Cutterman with 7 years of sea time aboard three ships including the High Endurance cutters Hamilton and Boutwell operating jointly in the Eastern Pacific conducting counter-narcotics missions and most recently and as the Operations Officer of America’s only heavy icebreaker the Polar Star operating in the Antarctic. She is only the second Coast Guard Federal Executive Fellow to the U.S. Naval Institute and resides in Annapolis area with her husband and two children.
