Ian W. Toll, award-winning author and military historian, shared lessons learned from naval operations in the Pacific during World War II in an evening lecture. Toll, author of The Pacific Trilogy, shared his expertise in his address: “Seapower Reconsidered: The Naval War in the Pacific.”
Toll is the author of three highly regarded works of American military history: Six Frigates, Pacific Crucible, and The Conquering Tide. The latter two titles are the first two volumes of a nonfiction trilogy about the Pacific War. The third and concluding volume,Twilight of the Gods: War in the Western Pacific, 1944-1945, will be published in 2019.
This event was followed by a special presentation from ADM John Richardson, USN, Chief of Naval Operations, to the winners of the 2018 Chief of Naval Operations Naval History Essay Contest and a reception.
