The Challenge: Cyber warfare and cybersecurity are the ultimate team sports because they bridge the public and private sectors. The Cyber Essay Contest encourages potential authors to let their imaginations run free and identify what the Department of Defense’s cyber priorities (or priority) should be and make the case for them.

  • If partnering with industry is a priority, also tell us how industry can reassure its commercial customers their interests will not be compromised and how the military/government can protect its classified information at the same time.
  • If sharing lessons learned from cyber incursions is a priority, tell us how to do so among all key stakeholders.
  • If importing the fast-paced innovations that pervade commercial IT is a priority, tell us what will it take for DOD to make that happen.
