Colonel John C. McKay, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired), enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1964. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he was wounded twice, including losing an eye. An Olmsted scholar, he is fluent in Spanish and served in several diplomatic postings while on active duty. He currently is an adjunct professor at California State University, Sacramento.
