A surveyor in the construction and repair division of the Matson Navigation Company, San Francisco, during World War II, John Carroll Carrothers has sailed as a chief engineer with the Matson Company. He has also been an inspection engineer with the Vitro Corporation of America. He was chief engineer, Overlook Hospital, Summit, New Jersey, before returning to sea as an assistant engineer on Moore-McCormack Line’s SS Brasil. Mr. Carrothers has now retired from active sea duty and makes his home in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
