Rear Admiral Richard B. Porterfield, U.S. Navy, the 60th Director of Naval Intelligence, was relieved by Rear Admiral Robert Murrett on 1 April 2005. Admiral Porterfield, now retired, was the longest serving director in the Navy's history, occupying that position from August 2000 to April 2005.
