Why Wait Till Someday...
For most companies, integrating the entire mechanical design process is still someday in the future.
Intergraph makes it possible. Today.
Mechanical design solutions. At the core: a high- precision 3D product model that links design constraints, material and cost data, analysis results, toolpaths, project status, drawings, and more.
From concept to customer support. Design, engineering, manufacturing, documentation - you name it. Our products target all disciplines in the mechanical design process.
Now the entire team can access a storehouse of
information about previous designs. Using the same data and a common user interface.
Instead of wasting time looking for design information or waiting till someday, your company can increase productivity and reduce time to market. Now.

Avoid emergencies at sea. Count on the experts who built your original steam turbine system for parts and service.
GE provides Navy and merchant marine ships with more than just parts. Or just repairs. As the leader in steam turbine propulsion and ships service systems, we also furnish integrated parts and service support throughout the life of your ship. Teams of experts are on-call when you need them: design and manufacturing engineers from GE Naval & Drive Turbine Systems, sales and planning piofessionals bom GE Marine & Defense Facility Sales, engine room service engineers from GE Marine Services and parts specialists from Argo International. They understand your turbine system in exacting detail—its design criteria, its operating history and its parts and service record. It’s all part of our commitment to get the job done right the first time.
Parts Built To System Specs
Only GE builds steam turbine and gear replacement parts with total system performance in mind. Our parts are superior because they le supported by material lists, manufacturing records, test results and special processes unavailable to machine shops. New GE parts, in fact, are often better than those they replace because they incorporate advanced technology.
Call The GE Team
More GE experts are ready to serve your needs than ever before. Share your upcoming ship overhaul plans with them. Together, you can outline a timely, cost-effective parts and service program that will send your ships to sea on time, on budget.

SPECIALISTS IN DEFENCE ELECTRONICS

Destroyers, frigates, and corvettes often operate outside a fleet’s active ECM protection net. If they come under anti-ship missile attack, they must rely on their own chaff, gun, and missile systems for protection. They carry no active ECM system to confuse and deflect such threats.
That problem has been solved by Raytheon. Today, the USS Reid and USS Hawes, both frigates, have a lightweight active ECM system nicknamed Sidekick. It gives a small ship’s passive SLQ-32(V)2 electronic warfare system the active capability needed to support all
ocean operations. ,v
At the request of the U.S. rn’ Raytheon designed, produced,; »L delivered the Sidekick in 11 we1 Only our long experience in cf£ ing advanced EW systems for t^'«k’s U.S. Navy and Air Force made i such a quick response possible Once again, strict adherent the fundamentals of multibean1 technology, antenna design, an‘ systems management enabled Raytheon to meet an important defense need.

U.S. Navy Memorial:
It’s true. The United States Navy Memorial in Washington is unfinished. There is much more to be done.
Three years ago, we dedicated the Navy Memorial plaza with its granite map of the world, fountains and pools and the statue of the Lone Sailor. And with the exception of 22 bas-relief panels which will commemorate people of the Navy, the outdoor part of the Navy Memorial is complete. It looks magnificent and is becoming even more so as construction ends on the exterior of the neo-classic buildings behind the Memorial. A Memorial to make you proud.
There’s the problem; many people think the 1987 dedication ceremony marked the completion of the Navy Memorial. What you see outside is half the story. The Navy Memorial is unfinished business.
Unfinished Business
Still to come is the $8-million Visitors Center
— the “heart” of the Navy Memorial, where granite and bronze transcend to a living memorial an educational and heritage center.
In the Visitors Center, the Navy Memorial Log will display names and service data of Navy veterans and those serving who have built the Memorial with their gifts. There you will also see and experience a spectacular film about the excitement and adventure of going to sea. And there will be interactive videos telling about the Navy and its role in the development of our nation. It’s all the “living” part of the Navy Memorial. Someday, and with your help, someday soon.
The Navy Memorial needs your gifts now — and your understanding that the Navy Memorial is unfinished business.

35 years. A proven partnership.
This is the 35th anniversary of a defensive system second to none: The strategic submarine deterrent force.
it is also the mark of a relationship between government and industry that itself is second to none: The U.S. Navy and the Lockheed team, producers of the submarine- launched Fleet Ballistic Missile.
From the deployment of the first Polaris FBM to today’s Tfident II D5, Lockheed has met the call and stayed the course.
Since USS George Washington deployed the first FBMs 30 years ago, no power has dared strike the United States in anger - from the time the Berlin Wall went up until it came down, strategic deterrence has worked. On station in the eternal deep.
Unseen.
Guarding the peace. America’s strategic submarines.

WE’RE MEETING
ALL THE REQUIREMENTS
FOR SEAWOLF PROPULSION
The requirements were challenging... high power, low noise, light weight.. .each requirement working against the other two. Determined to find new solutions,
Westinghouse engineers took the challenge. Drawing on the Westinghouse decade of advanced submarine propulsion experience in the 1980’s, we designed and manufactured a propulsion plant that meets the requirements—all of them.
We’re now testing the Seawolf Main Propulsion Unit, our third generation of quiet power—a submarine main engine that defines the state of the art.
WESTINGHOUSE MAKES THEM QUIETER, LIGHTED I
Full support. Anytime, anywhere.
In defense systems, first cost is I Important, but reliability and maintain- nhility count more. As Admiral Arleigh ( burke once said, “If the equipment doesn’t work in battle, it doesn’t make much difference how much else we know, the battle is lost — and so are the People in it.”
Since 1938, FMC Naval Systems Division has been the principal design agent and producer of guns and missile systems aboard U.S. Navy surface combatants. Today, all FMC-built systems aboard commissioned vessels are ready for battle. lTiey will never be lost for lack of access to parts, service or training.
We offer assurance that every FMC system is not only effective in battle, but can be maintained and supported at reasonable cost. And with a high degree of modularity in design, ORDALTS are possible to upgrade and extend life eycles well into the next century.
FMC field services range from shipyard installation to operational training to overhaul and upgrades. Services are extended to ships at sea, at FMC-operated pierside facilities on both U.S. coasts, or any designated port in the world. All service is performed by a large network of technical representatives, backed by the Surface- Warfare Overhaul/Repair Depot (SWORD), a U.S. Navy-designated facility located at FMC’s Naval Systems Division.
We are committed to serve the fleet anywhere, anytime in support of every weapon we build. For more information, write FMC Corporation, Naval Systems Division, 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1498.
