Foreword by General Tommy R. Franks, USA
Featuring exclusive frontline photography by Dennis Steele of ARMY Magazine, plus official U.S. Army photographs, this handsomely produced, large format volume pays tribute to all of the U.S. Army personnel fighting the war on terror. Combat veteran and author Clif Berry takes the reader through the events following the attacks of September 11, 2001, as the Army mobilized to defend the American homeland. From there, the photos and text lead the reader to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom, where Army units fought through forbidding terrain and a harsh climate to cleanse the country of the oppressive Taliban regime and al-Qaeda terror bases.
From Afghanistan, this illustrated Army story leads to Operation Iraqi Freedom, from build-up through dramatic battles and the liberation of Iraq. Maps and briefing aids accompany the photographs and narrative. A section on timelines, unit patches, and other data provides additional vital information.
Honoring the American men and women who served their country in a time of peril, this commemorative book will appeal to everyone interested in the ongoing struggle to free the world of terrorism.
Presented in cooperation with the Association of the United States Army.
