Have women been completely assimilated at the U.S. Naval Academy? The administration seems to think so. It promotes that image to the outside world to entice more women to apply for admission to the Naval Academy. But problems integrating women into the Brigade of Midshipmen still exist. The main issue hindering the full acceptance of women is communication among the midshipmen themselves when it comes to gender issues. There may be no actual problem of sexual harassment or preferential treatment of women at the Naval Academy, but the perception of a problem exists—and perception can become reality.
