His commands included Carrier Air Wing Seven, Carrier Group Eight, the amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), and the aircraft carrier Saratoga (CV-60). He also served as Commander, Naval Military Personnel Command, Chief of Naval Reserve, and Commander Naval Air Force, Atlantic Fleet.

Welcome, Shannon Johnson!
We are delighted to announce that Shannon Johnson has joined the Foundation staff as manager of corporate and foundation relations. This University of Maryland graduate has nearly 20 years of corporate experience, most recently as chief operating officer of a start-up international tech firm and as director of the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable, a private homeland security industry trade association.
Shannon and her husband, Greg, live in Annapolis with their children Zachary, 17; Nathan, 10; Tally, 6; and Lilly, 2. Her interests include travel and history.
Chief among Shannon's responsibilities will be establishing and cultivating the Institute's relationships with defense contractors. She will also pursue government grants and gifts from private foundations in support of conferences, the photo archive, writing and photo contests, and other educational projects.
