In the early 1990s, a 70-year-old retired admiral stood before a large contingent of midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy and challenged them to an unlikely competition. He asked who could beat him in a one-arm push-up contest. If that were not enough, he then added that he would do the push-ups with a volunteer on his back! To the astonishment of all, the admiral—class of '46—won handily.
