Ten Years Later, Cole Antenna Back in Service
Ten years ago this month, on 12 October 2000, al Qaeda terrorists attacked the Arleigh Burke –class destroyer USS Cole (DDG-67) in the Yemeni port of Aden by launching an explosive-filled boat against her hull. Seventeen Navy men and women died in the attack, and 39 were wounded, while the ship suffered extensive structural damage. The Cole was towed to Pascagoula, Mississippi, for repair. Nearly two years later, on 12 April 2002, the Navy returned her to Fleet service. Today, the Cole serves with COMDESRON 28, Atlantic Fleet.
