The Barb Remembered
In his recent letter to U.S. Naval Institute members, former USNI board chairman Admiral James Loy recalled Robert W. McNitt's experience as executive officer of the USS Barb (SS-220) in September 1944 when the submarine was able to locate and help rescue shipwrecked Allied prisoners of war in the South China Sea.
