Commander Rappold is a former nuclear submarine officer, board certified in both general surgery and trauma/surgical critical care. He has deployed in support of U.S. and coalition forces during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He is currently Chairman of the Department of Surgery and director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
