Out with the old and in with the new… almost anyway. The days of the “crusty old Chiefs” as we knew them were almost over. With military down-sizing and the Department of the Navy’s Human Capital Strategy in full swing, responsibilities on remaining personnel have proliferated. Coupled with increasingly demanding billets of responsibility, the Navy’s requirement for Chief Petty Officers to earn an Associate’s degree for Senior Chief eligibility no longer exists (NAVADMIN 203/05).
