Mr. Wegner has been Curator of Ship Models at the David Taylor Model Basin, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock, Maryland, since 1980. He began his study of designer's hull models at the Smithsonian Institution in 1968 and is a member of the American Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the U.S. Naval Institute, and the Organization of American Historians.
