U.S. Naval Institute Offers Free Membership to all Military Personnel
Complimentary online access to complete issues of Proceedings and Naval History Magazines now available worldwide
January 30, 2008 – The U.S. Naval Institute (USNI), America's premier independent, non-profit, non-partisan forum on national defense and homeland security, has announced a unique online initiative which will provide all active duty and Reserve service members, as well as civilians with a .mil email address, an opportunity for free unlimited membership to the Naval Institute, including online access to publications and other Institute benefits.
"As our military is becoming more joint-force oriented, we felt it imperative to make these two publications in particular, readily available to every member of the military,"" said Naval Institute CEO, Major General Tom Wilkerson, USMC (Ret.) "These magazines, and other resources available through the Naval Institute, will provoke thought and discussions which are not only relevant to enhancing their military careers but also contribute significantly to our nation's security as a whole."
Other member bonuses include the chance to be a part of www.GetTheGouge.com, (a new web-based community of active-duty service members sharing first person, cutting-edge perspectives on combat operations in the War); opportunity to take the debate online with blog.usni.org; exclusive member discounts to more than 1,000 Naval Institute Press book titles; and special invitations to national security and military conferences.
Members will also have access to episodes of the award winning Americans at War television series airing nationally on PBS.
