CACI International Chairman Named to U.S. Naval Institute Board
February 20, 2008 – Major General Tom Wilkerson, USMC (Ret.), CEO of the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI), has named Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of CACI International Inc, to the Executive Board of the Institute. The USNI Board of Directors guides the U.S. Naval Institute in its mission to preserve and promote naval heritage and foster critical dialogue on issues of national security.
"Dr. London's proven leadership will be a strong asset to our board," said General Wilkerson. "We value his experience as both a naval officer and defense industry communicator, two positions which contribute to what USNI represents."
CACI International Inc is a leading professional services and information technology solutions provider to the federal government. With more than 11,700 employees, the company recorded $1.94 billion in revenue in its fiscal year 2007. A member of the Fortune 1000, CACI is focused on providing solutions that enhance client capabilities at the nexus of intelligence and security services to meet our nation's most critical challenges.
"I'm very pleased and honored to be asked to serve on the board, and to be a part of the U.S. Naval Institute going forward," Dr. London commented on his election. "USNI has an extraordinary legacy of success, and a noble and honorable mission serving the free exchange of ideas dedicated to keeping our maritime services strong and our nation secure and free. On behalf of CACI, I am proud to support the continued best interests of this venerable organization."
Dr. London joined CACI in 1972 and rose through the ranks to become President and Chief Executive Officer in 1984, Chairman of the Board in 1990, and Executive Chairman in 2007. He has led the company to business success by watching emerging trend lines and positioning CACI for continued growth and value to clients. He implemented a highly successful strategic acquisitions program, through which CACI has made 40 acquisitions since 1993 that have greatly strengthened its position in managed networks, information assurance, and the security and intelligence solutions markets.
Dr. London is a 1959 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S. Naval Engineering) and a 1967 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School (M.S. in Operations Research). He holds a doctorate in business administration "with distinction" from George Washington University (1971).
Dr. London has received numerous personal awards, including the CEO of the Year Award, presented by the George Washington University Executive MBA Program; Ernst & Young's 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year for Government IT Services; and the John W. Dixon award from
the Association of the United States Army for his outstanding contributions to America's defense.
In 2004 Dr. London received the Albert Einstein Award for Technology Achievement in the Defense Fields, and the Federal Computer Week's highest recognition, the Eagle Award, for superior contributions to the federal IT community. He was named Executive of the Year in October 2005 at the Third Annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards. In April 2007 he was awarded the U.S. Navy League's Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award for his exemplary contributions to the enhancement of U.S. maritime strength and national security.
